China says Japan's launch of national intelligence bureau another negative move in security policies

BEIJING, July 31 (Xinhua) -- The establishment of Japan's national intelligence bureau represents yet another negative move in its domestic and external security policies, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Friday.

She made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to a query about Japan's inaugural meeting of the national intelligence council and the launch of its secretariat, known as the national intelligence bureau, on the same day.

Japan's intelligence agencies historically paved the way for its full-scale pursuit of militarism and the launch of wars of aggression, which led to innumerable crimes against its Asian neighbors and Japan's own people, Mao said.

Recently, Japan has been accelerating its remilitarization process under the pretext of so-called "national security" and "external threats," threatening regional peace and stability and raising widespread concerns among the international community, she noted.

The spokesperson urged Japanese policymakers to draw profound lessons from history and exercise utmost caution in the country's security policies.
